A value transport truck robbery led to a high-risk pursuit on the second level of the Periférico in Mexico City, where four alleged perpetrators attempted to flee on motorcycles traveling in the wrong direction. The operation, captured by C5 cameras and spread on social media, concluded in the Miguel Hidalgo mayorality with three detainees, one hospitalized injured person, and one deceased. Pursuit in the wrong direction According to information from the Citizen Security Secretariat (SSC), the events occurred after the crew of a cash transport truck was intercepted while making a cash delivery. The armed aggressors managed to seize the money and fled. “Real-time tracking allowed locating the probable suspects who were traveling on motorcycles,” indicated the SSC in its statement. Following the intervention, three men—of foreign origin, presumably Colombian—were arrested, while another died later in the hospital. At the scene, firearms, ballistic vests, cash, and the motorcycles used were secured. While trying to evade the police blockade, one of the motorcycles skidded, causing one of the riders to suffer leg fractures. “They were diagnosed with fractures in the femur and tibia, respectively (...) the foreign citizen lost his life,” the authorities specified. Images of the pursuit, widely spread on social media, show the danger of the escape and the rapid response of the capital's authorities. Units from the Command and Control Center (C2) coordinated the police in the field to implement a cordon in the Alencastre area, in the Chapultepec Second Section neighborhood.
